My host teacher uses many technological devices. The first day I observed I noticed he put on a head set. I asked what the head set was for and he told me it was so that the students could better understand what he was saying. Also it was especially for the students who struggled with auditory learning. Another form of technology Mr. Jones presented in the classroom was the smart board. He would put assignments/questions/ and activities on the smart board and the students would participate while using the smart board as well. When the students were asked to come up to answer a question on the board they would use a tennis ball to right because Mr. Jones thought it was easier, plus it was cool!
I think I gained a lot of knowledge so far from my host teacher. While Mr. Jones was reading aloud " Shiloh" in a circle to the class, when students got loud and into discussion Mr Jones would announce a phrase in a higher voice than others saying " 3,2,1" and the children would know it was time to stop talking and time to follow on with the reading. Although it was such a simple task he presented, it worked and I will probably try and carry that on to my future teaching or something along those lines.
Great to hear your practicum is going well. :) I hope you are having fun and learning a lot!
ReplyDeleteIt is awesome that your teacher incorporates technology in the classroom because many students are more engaged in technology than with just standard paper and pen. Your classroom sounds great!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous that your classroom gets to use technology in the classroom. my school hasn't updated on the advancement of technology and I really feel it could help with the students in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteChristina my teacher to uses the method of counting down to get the children's attention. It seemed to be very effective. The SMARTboard seems to be something that will be very critical to our teaching in the future.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your going to have a great time in the classroom! my teacher hasn't used any technology in the classroom yet but Im excited for the students to begin.
